Copenhagen, Denmark business trip from 22/09/2008 - 29/09/2008 (Part 1)

This is a church, if nt mistaken. :P
Taken on the afternoon we reached Copenhagen, 23rd October 2008.

According to Winston (our M'sian friend at TIA), at the end of this lake, there's a castle which is lived by the King's brother.

Hi All,

I'm posting this while on biz trip to Copenhagen, Denmark, with my product manager, Siew.

Finally reached Copenhagen airport, 23rd October 2008.
Siew was bz taking photos.
This was one which she took.

Departure..Transit..Arrival
I departed from KLIA using KLM Royal Dutch Airlines at 23:30 (supposed to be departed at 23:10, but slight delay). It was an 11 hrs flight to reach Amsterdam, Holland. There are gift shops at Amsterdam Airport, but the thing is, everything is calculated in Euro. Expensive!! Not long after that, we boarded another smaller plane to Copenhagen. It was a 1 to 2 hr flight. Touching down at Copenhagen airport, we got our luggages and I changed my USD100 to 417.50 Kroners. Then, we took a cab down to Birkerod town where our hotel is.

Time Zone..The time here in Denmark is 6 hrs behind M'sia time. Thats y Darling and I can't have time to chat online so often as when I online after dinner, Darling will be sleeping soundly. When I'm having my lunch, Darling's having his dinner.

Weather here fluctuates like stock exchange..hehe..sometimes cold, sometimes warm, but not as warm as back in M'sia, when the wind blows, I'm still shivering..gotta bring my jacket with me all the time.

Toking abt food, mostly everything here is served cold..cold meat, salad, etc..They do have hot food tho..I only try local food during my breakfast and lunch session. As for dinner, I take my AMWAY replacement meals, which is called positrim (actually it can help in slimming, thats y i opt for it..hehe..), and I mixed it with Protein in berry taste. The mixture tastes like yogurt. YUMMY!!

These photos were taken while Siew and I were waiting for our bus.
This is Holte Station.

Traffic here is smooth all the time as we are in a small town out of Copenhagen city. Ppl here are very environmental friendly. They cycle. The gov actually build cyclist land with small traffic lights. When you're walking on the street, gotta watch out for bicycles. If they bang you, not them, but you're getting into trouble..hehe..

Siew managed to grab a photo of the cyclist traffic light for me.
Did you c the small traffic light on the left of the photo above?

This is a closer shot of the cyclist traffic light.
There's a bicycle sign above the red light.

Siew and I had to take buses to TIA office everyday. Altho we were quite clumsy the first day, we were getting better..hehe..

This photo was taken when we arrived TIA office.
Boss, this is a proof that I did arrive at TIA office..hehe..

An odd photo of me showing the PEACE sign.
Y I mentioned odd? Becoz I seldom do it in my photos.

Siew was saying "Wah! Jerrin hardworking. So serious in work."
Padahal, I was there choosing which movie to download..hahahahaha..:P

Don't think of me as lazy, I got do my work ok..

Lets tok abt working environment..
My co partner, TIA, has a new and huge office equipped with facilities like kitchen with chef to prepare breakfast, lunch and even dinner (dinner cost on staff and deducted thru salary) for staff. Soft drinks, juices, smoothies and hot drinks are available 24-7. They even have their own gym room and sauna. All the staff are well taken care of. Great! Thats what we want in M'sia, don't we?
Working environment here is so relaxing and flexible. The staff come in early and may leave early at the end of the day. Every Friday, they off as early as 4pm. Altho their working hrs are flexible, they are indeed very productive.

This is receptionist desk in TIA office.

Photo taken on 26th September 2008, the last day working at TIA office.

I'm still trying to get used to local time zone altho I'm already here for few days.
I'm quite tired at the end of the day and only crave for some sleep.
I miss my Darling a lot and we tok on the phone everyday.
I checked my hp bill last nite and rough calculation showed that my bills is more than rm600..ooopppsss!! My allowance is solely for my hp bills I guess.. :P

This photo is taken beside The Little Mermaid, 28th October 2008.
Copenhagen is famous of this Little Mermaid statue.
There's a story behind it, if not wrong.
Altho I didn't get to the real statue, I got a photo of myself with The Little Mermaid at Copenhagen airport.

We found a booth displaying 2 sports cars.
To win these cars, we gotta buy air tickets..I couldn't remember tickets to where..

I can't find any gift/sourvenir shops arnd Birkerod.
One of TIA staff, Winston (he's M'sian, but has been abroad for many yrs), told me I can get souvenirs from shops in a town called Lyngby (which they read as "Lumbu" locally). The problem is, what bus to get me there?

This is a dbl deck plane which we took from Amsterdam to KLIA.
Similar to the one we took from KLIA to Amsterdam.

2008 - "Polished" & Computerized Wedding Photo Viewing - 2nd round - 14/9/2008

Regalis Bridal, our bridal shop called me on Friday nite.
I get to view our "polished" and computerized wedding photos.
I made an appointment to pay a visit on Saturday at 1pm.

However, on Saturday 13/9/2008, due to our digi cam tour, we postponed it to Sunday 14/9/2008 11am.
Darling and I were satisfied with the computerized photos altho there were spelling mistakes on some of the words and we amended them.
After "polished", our photos look better..
Bt I had comments on my faces.
So, the bridal shop has to go for another round of "polish"..
This is the consequence of nt slimming down b4 ur wedding photo session..hehe.. :P

We were told that in 1 or 2 wks time, we get to have another round of viewing..
Shall c my satisfaction then..

Updated on 25/9/2008
We viewed for the 3rd time for our "polished" wedding photos on 20/9/2008.
I'm satisfied with every angle of myself.
However, Darling said he wasnt satisfy with our "bed wall" photo commenting that his face looks weird..haha..
From my opinion, I think.."ya, his face a bit sharp"..
I am lazy to go back to bridal shop to reselect another photo for tat..coz selecting photos is a tiring process.. :P
But for perfection and zero degree of regretfulness, I think we should go back and discuss with the bridal shop..
Ok, shall schedule our time for that, right Darling?

Digi Cam - 13/9/2008 and 14/9/2008

Digi cam is a very common gadget nowadays.
But Darling and I don't own one yet.
It is nt that we can't afford, but we don't know which brand is the best

In order to get ourselves updated to little thingy, Sekkee, Darling and I went to JJ Bukit Tinggi on Saturday for survey tour.
Darling and Sekkee spent few hrs (if not wrong) testing and questioning the promotors at Harvey Norman on digi cams from diff brands..Canon, Panasonic, Sony etc..

I got to have my own tour around Harvey Norman surveying household stuff and electrical appliances..curtains, deep fryers, irons, hair dryers etc..
Sth caught my attention and I stood there for nearly 30 minutes enjoying the ryhtms played..
It is a Jamo Home theatre system playing songs such as Pretty Woman by Roy Orbison......

Ok, back to digi cam survey tour..hehe..
After this, we went to a cam shop.
This was when Darling and I decided we should have one of this..a PANASONIC LUMIX FZ28.

It is a digi cam with 18x optical zoom lens and 10.1 MP.

It has the ability to detect motion movements.

It costs RM1499.

For other good points of this digi cam, pls go to dpreview.com for a read.

On Sunday, after our business at our bridal shop, Darling and I went to Sungei Wang and Low Yat with Sekkee for another round of digi cam survey tour hoping we can get a FZ28 with cheaper price.

Somehow, we found that the price is fixed everywhere.

Out of a sudden, sth sparked in my mind..

I hestitated whether to buy a more than RM1k digi cam or just a normal 5 to 6 hundred digi cam with lower spec..

what you guys think? should I go for a higher or lower spec digi cam?..hhmm...

Updated on 19/9/2008

Finally decided and bought..actually it is my Darling's idea and preference..We bought ourselves a FZ28 Panasonic Lumix.

But quite turned off when the seller said they lack of stock now, will have to order and only on this Saturday we can have it..

Another turn off fact is that Darling doesnt allow me to bring our new digi cam for my nx wk's Denmark biz trip. Darling say I "lun lun chun chun (cantonis)", afraid I will misplace our digi cam, so wants me to bring his old film cam.....aarrggghhh!! *pissed off*

Altho pissed off with using the old film cam, Darling promised to scan every single photo, which I will be taking during my biz trip to Denmark..right Darling? ..hehe..

Global Warming

Lately I read news about global warming.
Scientists from foreign countries are saying that global warming is getting serious on our earth.
I wonder:
Anyone knows the meaning of global warming?
Anyone aware that our earth is facing this deadly human-caused disaster?

Global warming refers to the increase of earth's average measured temperature
(**Ref: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_warming).

Let us have a look at the temperature on our earth in the next 20 or 30 or 40 years later..

Do you all see the red zone on our earth in the next 90 years ahead of us?
How worst can it get to? What's the temperature at the red zone?
Maybe some of us will say..

Oh! C'mon! 90 years in future?
Who cares?
By that time, we all had passed away..

Yes, some ppl may or may not live 90 years later.

How about our next generations?

Our children, our grandchildren, our grad-grandchildren..

Can you imagine they suffer in this kind of environment?

Thanks to what their ancestor (we) did before..

What are the CAUSES? Let us see..

1. CO2 from factories, vehicles, air planes, buildings, etc.. (I hate this one very much)

2. N2O (Nitrous oxide) from fertilisers, open burnings, etc..

3. Deforestation - no trees/plants, more CO2, less O2

4. Use of environment unfriendly stuff - plastic bags, airconds, pesticide, etc..

Anyother causes which you guys can think, please feel free to drop your comments.

The EFFECTS of global warming:

Ladies and gentlemen..

We can do our part to keep our earth free from such disaster.

It is not some kind of natural disaster which we are unable to avoid.

This is human-caused disaster which only we, human, can help to save the earth.

Are you human?

WAYS TO SAVE OUR EARTH:

1. Minimize the use of airconds, pesticides, fertilizers, plastic bags

Use environmental friendly products..Cut down the use of airconds is good to health..

2. Ban open burning

3. Plant more trees to absorb CO2 and give out O2

4. JPJ should lay down rule that forbid dirty smoke emitted from all types of vehicles.

5. Health and environment department..(gov in short)..should take action to monitor closely factories or buildings which pass out smoke..

Remember this..3Rs

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

All mentioned in this post are just some basic knowledge of mine about global warming.

But I guess it is basic enough to get you aware of our earth's condition.

If you still don't understand what global warming is..google it. ;)

Malacca Trip - 30/8/2008 to 1/9/2008

Few months ago, Darling and I decided to go Malacca for satay celup and chicken rice balls.
We booked Mimosa Hotel, which is located in the mid of Malacca city..I guess..
FYI..

Room rate: RM98 per nite
Surchage for peak season: RM40
Breakfast
inlcuded.
Chech this out:
http://www.mimosahotel.com/

But few days b4 the trip, both of us were considering whether or not to procede with the trip.
Short conversation between both of us on Thursday morning, which is 28/08/2008, while we on our way to office..(actually this conversation had been repeating for the past few days..mon, tues, wed..we really couldn't make up our mind..)

Me: Darling, so how? Still want to go or nt?
Darling: I'm ok one. See you only.
Me: I ching chai one. I see you only. I know you want to go one..
Darling: So how?
Me: I go Malacca only to eat satay celup and chicken rice balls nia. I
let u decide.

Darling: I anything. What you think?

After several minutes of po po ma ma conversation..finally...

Me: Aiyah..go lah..go lah..so susah..

Malacca, here we come!!

We started driving at 1++pm on saturday, 30/8/2008.
The weather is damn hot..
Darling kept on wiping his sweat..
Darling's old junk (hahahaha..sorry Darling, it's jsut a joke..) couldn't be any faster..
A lot of cars..super fast..passed us by..
We chit chat..lol on silly topics..ate lays..listened to Tommy Page's songs (I don't really like his songs, but Darling loves them..hhmmm..)..

Malacca has few things similar to my hometown, Kuching..
1. lots of traffic lights
2. Old shops
3. Places you want to go are within walking distance..perhaps..

We reached Malacca at nearly 4pm.
Mimosa Hotel's parking lots are full of cars.
We got no parking lot, so Darling parked beside 2 cars..of cz, we ensured that we din block the 2 cars beside.
We checked in and rest a while..

I told Darling we had to go early for satay celup, if nt, we gotta wait for our turn.
So, at 4:15pm, we walked all the way to Restaurant Capitol..famous of its satay celup.
When we reached there, the shop had yet to open.
Darling blamed me for reaching early..

Walking under hot sun..we were thirsty..
Found one soya bean stall opposite, we both walked across the street to get ourselves 1 cup of soya bean mix with cincau each..recommended by the uncle, stall owner..altho we already knew the mixture of soya bean and cincau.
In fact, we already bought 1 pack of soya bean and 2 cans of cincau the nite b4.

We enjoyed our drink at the seats prepared by the uncle.
Chit chat with him, we found that Singaporeans don't like to eat satay celup..u know y?
HYGIENE is the main reason.
I dunno how true it is..coz I found from other websites which mentioned Singaporeans like satay celup.

We saw a group of 7 ppl walking towards Restaurant Capitol.
I quickly informed Darling to wait in front of the shop.
We were the first to reach, I didn't want us to be the last to get table..
We both walked to the pet shop next door.
Lotsa rats in a cage, damn smelly..
Darling went into the shop..looking at those pretty fish..

As we saw more ppl waiting outside the restaurant, we walked over and wait.
Nearly 10mins later, the shop opened.
We got the inner most table.
In few secs, all the tables were occupied..
Some ppl are left standing outside, waiting for their dinner.

The restaurant increased the price for per stick of food.
Darling recalled that previously rm0.60 was charged per stick.
Now they charge rm0.70.
I took lotsa prawns..hehe..kangkung, meat ball "bak yi", a plate of toufu, bird eggs..hhmm..wat else..
Darling took all his favourite.."tau ki".
We both ate 43 sticks.
In total, we paid RM30++.

After dinner, we walked to the fruit stalls opposite our hotel.
Bought a kilo of longan, then back to hotel for a rest.
At 7sth, we walked to jonker walk.
There are a lot of ppl and stalls selling accessories, cakes, biscuits, keropok, drinks, food..etc.
The first stall is a "qi-gong" demo. From the poster hanging at his stall, I guess it is sth like an old man capable of breaking bricks using his bare hand..
Walked till the end of the street, there are some 30 to 50 of age hot mamas dancing in pop songs.
Wow!!
A great experience tho..
As we didn't feel like spending much, so, we walked back to hotel with 2 pieces of local made kuih..hehe..
Back to hotel, Darling finished his lays in jsut few mins!! Surprised me!!

The next day, we both woke up at 8++am to catch ourselves some breakfast prepared by the hotel.
Normal breakfast: Nasi lemak, hokkien mee, fried eggs, potato wedges, hotdogs, toast, porridge, coffee, tea, orange juice and soya bean.

After a heavy breakfast, we took an umbrella and 2 hand towels, wore our sport shoes, we walked all the way to Dataran Pahlawan and Malacca Parade..2 shopping malls nearby..we passed by Christ Church, Stadthuys, a military museum with big military ship, a huge pirate ship..
We din pay a visit inside as it incurred charges.
Perhaps next round of Malacca trip, we will..

Round and round the 2 shopping malls..nth much..we walked back to hotel.
On the way back, we walked along a river.
From far, I noticed something swimming in the river below the bridge (I couldn't recall the bridge name)..
Then I heard some kids shouting "Snakes! Snakes!"
We both walked closer, saw a four legged snake swimming across the river.
A bunch of ppl nearby, including us, looked at the "snake" till it moved into a small drain.

Reached hotel, we slept the whole afternoon.
At 6++pm, we went for dinner at jonker walk..Famosa Chicken Rice Ball..
This shop gives no flexibility in certain orders.

Eg 1:
fish ball and wanton.
Stated in menu: fish ball rm0.60 per piece; wanton rm0.60 per piece.
We wanted to order 6 pieces of fish ball and wanton each.
But the waitress told us we couldn't order this way.
She claimed that if we wanted to have a mixture of fish ball and
wanton, we had to order 10 each.
--> 1st drawback

Eg 2:
Chicken rice ball.
I couldn't rmbr how much per ball.
We wanted to order 6 chicken rice ball.
The waitress again told us we couldn't order this way.
She told us the minimum chicken rice ball to order is 10.
--> 2nd drawback

How can 2 persons finish 10 rice balls??
Anyway, we ordered normal plate of chicken rice...SPOIL THE MOOD only! y?
Cz my main intention going to Malacca is to eat satay celup and chicken rice balls.
Seriously, if not becz of the food pictures posted outside the door, we won't have try it.
We ordered fried pork "siu yok" RM6, 1/4 roasted chicken RM8, 1/4 steamed chicken RM8, 1 bowl of toufu soup RM6, 1 ice lemon tea rm2, 3 plates of rice RM1.30 each..total=RM33.90..
The "siu yok" was not crispy enuf.

Recommended chicken rice ball: Restaurant Chung Wah --> located on the right of the bridge..not far from jonker walk.

After dinner, we walked out of jonker walk, back to hotel.
We finished our second packet of lays.

Darling: I feel like want to eat chips lah..
Me: Har!
Darling: After finish this lays, we go down buy lah..

We looked around and found one supermarket.
We went up up up..to the top level...found NOTHING!!
A supermarket that only sells men and women clothing and house hold groceries..but no food section.
We found a bakery..nth much in there..we only bought a packet of keropok.
On the way back, we saw a stall selling "cha kueh"..looks tasty, we bought a packet..rm3.50.
We enjoyed the "cha kueh" after our bath..not bad.

But kesian..Darling fell sick.
After brushing his teeth, Darling felt cold and covered himself under the blanket.
His forehead was really hot.
I put a wet hand towel on his forehead..hugged him till he almost fell asleep..kesian Darling..mmmmwahhh!!

The next day, Darling was feeling fine.
We got up for our breakfast.
Again, we had a heavy breakfast.
Breakffast served: fried rice, fried bihun, sweet sour chicken, fried eggs, potato wedges, cucur udang, toasts, porridge, orange, coffee and tea.

After breakfast, we headed back to our room.
Did some packings..then watched tv and read newspapers.
At 11:45am, we checked out and headed back home.

**Too bad we had yet to purchase a digi cam. If not, we will have taken and posted lotsa photos here..perhaps we'll have a digi cam b4 the next round of Malacca trip. :D
